Tuesday, April 26th
You’ll like this one. Doing promo last week in Europe, and found myself in a hotel in Zurich one evening with a 15 minute window to have a swim in the pool in the basement. So i get the changing room key from reception and race down to get chlorinated.
I get changed, put all my stuff – including the changing room key and my phone of course – in the locker, and cant find the door to the swimming pool. ‘Maybe it’s the way i came in’ i think. So i step out the changing room and hear the thud of the door and the click of the lock behind me. I’m in the basement, locked out of the changing room in a swimsuit with only a pair of goggles to my name, and my options are a) the door to the underground carpark, b) the stairs up to the enormous & occupied bar/reception area, or c) the lift.
Thankfully i remember manager SB is sitting at the top of the stairs in the bar and after hissing his name 11 or 12 times from behind the door, he realises my predicament…
Saved. And i still got a swim. God bless the Management. x -

Dressed To Kilt
Willie Nelson, what a diamond. He’s about 130 and played for 2 hours at
Shepherd’s Bush, and really didn’t look like he wanted to stop. There he was
in his bandana, with his knackered guitar with a hole in, and a brand new
pair of New Balance on. Class.
Went to New York for, eh, a day and a half to play at the ‘Dressed to Kilt’
affair; a night of Scottish debauchery featuring many a kilt indeed, not
least the SKILL little number that 21st Century Kilts designed for me.
Covered in paint, my initials in black leather, a work of art it is. I
managed to get dissed by Darius in the lobby of the hotel when I said hello
as he was on his phone. However, he might not have actually seen me as I’m
about the size of his leg.
Doing radio promo all over the place this week & one dj picked up on Mark
Knopfler’s ‘woo-hoo’ in ‘Walk of Life’ being suspiciously similar to my own.
Most amusing, well done.
I’ve just submitted my top 10 playlist for i-tunes which was a beautiful
process. Listened to so many old tunes. Check ‘em. Bon nuit mes amigos x -

Wee Hours, Suuunday Mornin, April 3rd
My manager leaves a message for me last Friday morning. “KT, we have a problem. Apparently an artist in South Africa has written a song that is virtually note for note and almost lyrically identical to ‘Other Side of the World’. More unfortunate is the fact that you’re being sued. This could prevent us releasing the song as a single. Please don’t call anyone else, phone ME asap.” So i’m thinking, maybe it’s possible by some freak of nature, whilst looking for my original lyrics in a knackered pile of books. I keep calling him but it’s straight to voice mail. He’ll be talking to the lawyer, i’m thinking…starting to sweat…FINally he calls back.
“Jesus”, i say, “what’s going on?”
“What’s the date today?” he says.
April 1st. Clever bastard.
