KT Tunstall Diary

  1. 19th February, 2006

January 19th, at home. Is this my house? It looks familiar...

Woooooaaaaaahhh boy!!! My trusty steed of excitement has finally dropped me off outside my front door, and all is as delightful as it was. Nothing has warped, died (i only have one fish left these days, so he’s under careful neighbour surveillance), or tidied itself up, and i can now begin to digest the little shiny fellow who came into my life on Thursday night. No, no, haven’t been ordering items from dodgy websites, the Best Bird Award!!!

It was all going pretty bloody well already to be fair, and then as i walk off stage at Earl’s Court after our performance, Debbie Harry tells me i was incredible. Is the rest of my life just going to be mildly disappointing?! Not if i can help it.

Oooooh! Wasn’t Prince champion? As soon as he started playing you were transported to some L.A. enormo-dome…and those backing singers, i need me some of them…I really digged Paul Weller’s show too. I don’t know all his albums well enough to win a quiz, but he was proper exciting to watch.

The family had a top night – big bro’s in Madagascar looking for lemurs, but he got the news in t’jungle. Mum was looking quite the rock mutha having borrowed my 70’s lewis leather biker boots for the occasion. The party after was as you might imagine, skill. It turned out the record company had bought me the guitar i’d hired (an “i’ll die before you touch this baby!!” little number called a Gretsch Falcon…think Neil Young…) as a present. Give me an award and i can make a speech; give me a guitar like that and i was totally gobsmacked into silence!!

Seeing as this is my website, i’ve decided to augment my thankyou speech simply because i can. I couldn’t have got this far without my gypsy band of brothers, the band & crew, and i really should have said thankyou to Jools Holland & Jo Whiley. And you guys! I owe you all tea & cake.

I;m going back to bed to watch Dog Day Afternoon with Al Pacino in an attempt to improve my glaring lack of classic film experience.

Thanks, Love, Gladness, Opportunism, and a celebration of hot pink fabric,
    KT xx
