Friday, June 9th, NYC

I mean, honestly, how can a girl have so little time?!
Alot, as i now expect, has happened…

Total shock at winning the Ivor Novello (I heard Mr.Birtwhistle took umbridge to my winning on the radio the next day; you’ve gotta love a grumpy old man), and even wore my skanky old jeans thinking i was arriving for lunch as a spectator. It really is a very pleasurable one to win – the feeling of champers-enforced self-satisfaction as i raced off to the airport to fly to Bucharest was memorable…

And so, Bucharest. We’ve re-made the video for ‘Suddenly I See’ for the US (as it WAS a little bit bland, lets be honest). It’s directed by the brilliant Patrick Daughters (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Kings of Leon, Secret Machines), and his idea was to go to Romania & find a circus. Not only did we find a circus, but we found a Russian trapeze troupe, a Romainian dog-trainer, a cafuffle of gymnasts, and a gaggle of show-girls. Needless to say, i take a turn at each…Parachuting Jack Russels. I’m serious, the doggies were raring to fling themselves off a platform, tails a-wagging. Brilliant.

Back in NYC to play Webster Hall. It’s good thinking back to playing the Living Room at the beginning of the year, seeing how far it’s come. All the American gigs we’ve done since then…they’ve been utterly ace. Really similar crowds to home. Sold out. Well mad for it.

Went to Mexico to do a 2-piece open-air radio show with Lucky luke which was grand, apart from having a kidney infection which slashed tequila sales at the bar that night. The pain was abated by the 20 competition winners who danced their arses off through most of the gig, barefoot. Arreeba. All better now, but was most upset at my mortality.

Ok, have to go. Verrrrrry excited about the UK dates, and cant believe i’ll be into recording album 2 before the end of the month. Bring it on.

It’s all good. Hello summer. I wonder if it’ll make a massive difference recording in mid-summer? Interesting that Eye was done mid-winter.
