    February 2nd, in bed, London

First of all, hello, second of all, apologies for the delay AGAIN – i’m working on improving my diary system; if 17 year olds can tap into government files, you’d think i could post a diary page about the fact that a Komodo Dragon just had a baby without having a shag.

Ah, i should explain why i’m in bed as it is early on a friday evening and this is not the natural behaviour of a popstrel. I’ve got another bloody kidney infection! After a month of booze free, healthy livin’, fresh air, pudding-eating studio time, drinking lots of water (and hideous cranberry juice – why cant fake strawberry milk be good for your vitals eh?) the bastard is back again. I went for an ultrasound scan and it turns out i have a little dwarven 11year olds’ left organ!! An infection when i was a kid has left me with a wee kiddy kidney. A kidnette if you will. So i’m desperately hoping this isn’t the start of a whisky-free existence…that would be baaaad…but dont worry, i’m on the mend and meeting with lots of wise old hippies in the next few days to take action.

Anyway. Enough about my waterworks, I went for dinner at Number 10 the other night! Global Cool (www.global-cool.com) are a kick-arse environmental agency i’m working with to try and raise awareness about what we can do to avoid what the IPCC (International Panel on Climate Change – lots of alarmingly clever people) announced today is a situation akin to not only being up sh*t creek without a paddle, but there not being any water left in the creek.

It was all very educational. Al Gore’s film ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ had already enlightened me as to what the problems we’ve caused are, and in laymans terms there is no better info on the subject than this film which is brilliant, but to hear about the challenge we face with China and India developing using fossil fuels is grim listening indeed. I heard that China’s emissions will potentially have caught up with the USA by 2009. I found myself swinging from despondancy to fevered excitement, and thankfully ended on the latter. Global Cool is a fantastic inititaive; i’d be really chuffed if you’d check out the website. i’m convinced we are reaching a turning point in our attitudes and we can collectively improve our dire situation.

Album is rockin’ along! And i mean rockin’...anyone remember me saying i was standing on my left leg all the time from using the pedal and my right leg was withering?! Well with this album, i’m slightly worried i’m going to end up with a massive mutant crab forearm due to how rockin’ some of the tunes are. So, i shall have a massive right leg, a massive right forearm, and a kidnette!??!! It doesn’t sound like a particularly good look.

    I’ll write more soon.
    Big love, Miss T xx

    Christmas Diary!! December 23rd

Ahoy! Hope you’re all cracking and looking forward the Great the Day of Condiments. I intend to come within an inch of death through ingestion of copious amounts of bread sauce.

So, there i was getting my photo taken with Justin Timberlake and Mary J Blige in LA at the Grammy nominations ceremony, wishing that Heather, the woman who covered my arse at the Edinburgh job centre for a year, could have tagged on the end. It was very mental indeed – that level of stardom is as much a lifestyle as it is about music, and you get the feeling you should somehow mould…but then i gave myself a good poke in the ribs and remembered that i got meself there, and it would be a very wise idea to carry on in the same way. Harlsden still has my heart so it does!

There was a funny moment when i had to bolt down a slice of humble pie – Corinne Bailey Rae and i were in front of about 40 paparazzi getting our mugs snapped at, then a few of them started shouting, ‘OK! JUST CORINNE ON HER OWN NOW PLEASE!!’ Jeez! They know how to make a girl feel special! However, i get to battle the great Agwillery and Pink this February. Bring it on!

The tour was wicked – playing to 10-15 thousand people in enormo-domes for radio shows. It was really interesting as i always wondered how you reach the people sitting half a mile away, how you get the connection with that many people. But actually, when you’re playing for thousands of kids on sweets, they went mental! Brilliant! Free sweets at gigs from now on.

The new album is coming along damn fine – we paid our dues to an extent down in Rockfield. The sessions in London have gone great, even despite the dead rat hanging out of the ceiling. It’s easy to forget the brain drain it casn be in the studio. Songs are padlocked, and we have a hairpin. Some are easy pickings, some are bank vaults, but as long as you remember what you’ve tried, you make progress. Moving to a similar but bigger place after the new year as the boys are coming in and we’re gonna cut some live sh*t. Sounds like Johnny Depp is in the same studio doing vocals for the musical film version of ‘Sweeney Todd’. Hmm. Nightmare.

Thanks so much for your well-wishin’, congrats-givin’, and gig-fishin’, i’ve enjoyed popping into the Black Horse cyber juicer (pub for those who haven’t met anyone from Brighton) to catch up with the news.

Have a fabulous yuletide, and if it’s a hard one, buy the Blackadder box set and stock up on Turkish Delight.

Ding dong Merrily, loadsa love & thanks for a great year,
    KT Tonsil xxx
