April 24th, Homegame,

Had such an inspiring time at the Homegame festival up in Anstruther, what a total pleasure. Amazing music – Slow Club, Men Diamler, Withered Hand to name but a few, and last but not least the heroic organisers The Pictish Trail and King Creosote’s sets were blinding. I am proudly still sporting a blood blister a week later from taking over disco drumming duties halfway through KC’s finale. His new album, ‘Flick the V’s’ is worth at least twice the money you’ll pay for it – brilliant.

Played all new stuff (the inevitable, ubiquitous YouTube holds some evidence (btw, I’m currently loving ‘ninja cat comes closer while not moving’; backing track is perfect…)) which was pretty nerve-wracking but very glad I did it. Mamma Casino who runs the tea shop gig loved it, and that’s good enough for me!

And how better to celebrate returning to my adopted southern home town by walking past Barbara Windsor in John Lewis on Oxford Street. I mean, it’s perfect isn’t it? Sun shining, just past the tea towel section and there’s Babs in her golden glory discussing coffee machines. Ahh, Britain really does feel great on a nice sunny day.

Writing, writing, writing…loving it. Loving getting the tube from Victoria to north london at rush hour totally unnoticed. Reading ‘Shantaram’. Enjoying it a lot. After just coming back from India it almost makes me want to go back and get myself into trouble on purpose…nearly…

Don’t forget Sam Lewis (guitar hero of the band; great writer & singer)‘s album ‘Everything You Are’ comes out on May 9th
